Meersbrook Posted June 4, 2012 Share Posted June 4, 2012 In the 1881 census there is a Elshaw b1840 in Sheffield who was a steward. He lived with his wife on Derbyshire Ln. On a online old-map.co.uk map of the area of 1882 there appears to be a Working Mens Club on Derbyshire Ln at Norton Woodseats. I could be wrong, eyes are not what they used to be. SteveHB Posted June 4, 2012 Share Posted June 4, 2012 What appears to be the same building (229) at later dates is shown as a Sunday School on maps 1898 - 1923, 229 Derbyshire Lane, Odel Jim, caretaker, St. Pauls Sunday School (Kelly's 1925). A Working Men's Club was established in Derbyshire Lane in 1873, having large and commodious premises, comprising library, concert room, billiard and reading rooms.
