duckweed
I read in an orbituary for Samuel Shore of Meersbrook that he had been a member of the Revolutionary Society, which was formed after the Civil War to further the aims of non conformists and radical ideas. I know that Thomas Paine was a speaker (presumably speaking on the Rights of Man) and that later he worked with Walkers of Rotherham to build a prototype bridge over the River Don. Wondered if anyone had heard of the Revolutionary Society and whether Shore and Paine met in Sheffield/Meersbrook?
