RichardB
For a City to have a Town Hall, that should be a City Hall, and a City Hall that should be a Concert Hall (or suchlike); wot's Manchester and Leeds got ? Is City Hall reserved for performance premises, or does it just go back to the Town Hall being called TheTown Hall when it was still a town ? Bayleaf
In Britain we have Town Halls, regardless of being a city or a town. Sheffield's confusing because it also has a City Hall. Mainly confusing to Brits who watch too many US imports. Manchester's equivalent is the Bridgewater Hall, home to the Halle Orchestra. (Actually they used to be shared by the Bridgewater and Sheffield City Hall until Shefffield council stopped their support to help pay for the wonderful WSG). Just to confuse things further, concerts in Leeds are held in Leeds Town Hall.
