1767 Africanus, bought of Lord Farnham, and was own brother to Trentham, by Lord Gower's Sweepstakes, out of Miss South, by South.

In 1772 he won £50 at Sheffield, beating Legacy, Jack O and Chance; also £50 at Wakefield, beating Princess and Young Jason.

He was sold to Sir James Penny man but proved unsuccessful.
