No nomination comes to mind, but I hope they keep up the apparent principle

of NO POLITICIANS!!

Nick Clegg, David Blunkett, Clive Betts <_<

Yes Bayleaf, I think a NO POLITICIANS rule should definately be applied!

Likewise no-one comes to mind.

However, many of these are "celebrities" and "sportsmen"

What exactly makes a "legend" different and what extra would you have to do to become one.

Most of the people I describe as "legends" are already dead

If they are not then the expression "a legend in their own lifetime" frequently gets used.

As far as a know most of the "celebrities" and "sportsmen" in this list are still alive so they must be "legends in their own lifetime"

Or, if you are walking past the town hall plaques in your works dinner break "legends in your own lunchtime" lol

Two come to mind immediately to me, and both are connected with classical music, a genre completely missing from that list.

The first is Sir Henry Coward, who probably did more for the musical life of Sheffield than any other person.

The second is Peter Cropper, former leader of the Lindsay String Quartet, founder and artistic director of Music in the Round at the Crucible Theatre and now Professor of String Quartet at Sheffield University.

Both sound good to me madannie.

One is a legend and the other is a legend in his own lifetime! lol
