Yes, the pub didn’t look familiar ( and yes, it crossed my mind that it’s location had the look of The City Centre about it )…..why I was tentative with my suggestion. It’s well over half a century since I was pretty well acquainted with the East End ….some places, some now even obliterated, I still recall well but others I don’t recall, at all. The human mind can be a wonderful thing…..but sometimes very dangerous..

This photograph some years ago was a Picture Sheffield "Unidentified Group Photograph" couldn't remember whether it was a Sheffield group or not. I've searched for the image with every keyword I can think of to no avail. It's not under "Sorby" but you have the knowledge of your grandfather in the photo and the connection to the Sorby. Its possible it could have been deleted from Picture Sheffield but if I do find it again I'll pass on the information. Which one is he? Can you name any of t

I don't know what year this photo was taken but the board outside the cinema has the film name "The Fighting Parson" which was released in 1933.

Remembered with great fondness as a young lad looking at the map with a white light 'you are here' is it still there? it gave the route of just about all routes the buses went, a very handy tool especially for visitors, my mother would quickly pull me away, with 'it's not a toy' but I thought it brilliant. Happy memories.

Interesting to see a fireless loco. Until now I hadn't heard of the Devil's Poridge Museum, which looks interesting. Fireless locos are also found in places like paper mills.

Thank you. I had found the marriage, and along with the timing of the photographer, is what led me to think that this was the wedding in the picture. It was the only one I found that possibly matched. The Kays would have been fairly well off and this does look like a "well dressed" wedding. I just haven't been able to confirm that this is in fact Douglas and Clara.

My favourite place to be on a Saturday morning with my dad, he used to take me to get some cockles and tripe served on a little plate with vinegar, then off to see his mother my Gran before going on to see United, great day's that made my Saturdays, circa mid 1960's.
