SteveHB
Springfield House was situated on what is now Convent Walk where it crosses Cavendish Street, shown on a 1855 map.
dunsbyowl1867
Built or extended in 1875 - perhaps ? Image courtesy of Google My aunt was telling me she attended Nore Dame School in Cavendish Street in the 1950s - it was in 2 old houses bought by the nuns in 1861/2. I saw an advert that referred to the property as 'Springfield' - maybe it referred to the area rather than a house? It was demolished in 1988 I think. I suppose given the proximity of the coal pit this must be the previous occupant ? I assume those are the semi detached houses the Notre Dame nuns purchased? Given the proximity of the coal pit - I assume this is one of the two houses? Though they are different addresses.
