madannie77
Anyone know if the Vulcan Foundry had any association with the Vulcan Works in Sheffield ? Thanks to the book`The Spurnhead Railway` by Kenneth E Hartley and Howard M Frost. W/E. The Vulcan Foundry in question was in Earlestown in Lancashire and was a very well-known locomotive builder, both in the UK and overseas. There is a website with more detail than most people could ever want or need here: http://www.enuii.org/vulcan_foundry/index.htm and the locomotive list (hand written ledger) details the locomotive Kenyon on page 11 of this link http://www.enuii.org/vulcan_foundry/locomotive_list.htm As far as I know, Vulcan Foundry never had any connection with any Vulcan Works in Sheffield: I can find no reference in any of my many sources, both printed and online.
