My attended De la Salle in the late 60s to mid 70s. Unsure on the exact dates as school ages may have differed then, but he was born in March 1958, so imagine he'd have started circa September 1969. Sadly passed away in 2015. Does anyone remember a John Naylor? Lived on Firth Park Crescent.

Sorry I don't remember your brother John Naylor, he was 4 years younger than me, so I wouldn't have known him and I came from Walkley anyway. My commiserations on his passing away at such a relatively, young age.

Hi, another one I can't see mentioned is De La Salle College, Scott Road.

I believe it closed in the late 70's with pupils moving to All Saints on Granville Road. Also Notre Dame ceased to be a girls-only school and a number of De La Salle boys attended.

I was a pupil at De La Salle from 1964 - 1969 and was formerly a pupil of St. Patrick's, Sheffield Lane Top.

Have i got it wrong that De la Salle became St Peters? My older brother went to De la Salle, I went to notre dame and in around 1984 St Peters closed and merged with us

St Joseph's at walkely closed in think in 1981, now turned into apartments.

Notre Dame Cavendish site closed and demolished, man that was a scary building, think its new city centre living apartments, I'd not have one for free, the white lady is probably still there 👻

Yes I far as I knew, De La Salle pupils went to All Saints on Granville Road (but it may still have been called St Pauls in those days).

I guess De La Salle lost it's funding when there was a levelling down of education to send everyone to Comprehensive education. You can tell how I feel about that!

This Britain From Above photograph shows St Matthias School on Napier Street! it was taken in the early 1950s.

Don't know when the school closed?  I do know the empty building was used as temporary warehouse/office by The Sheffield Twist Drill in 1961.

Some more closed schools,

Oaks Park

Chantry

both on Mathews Ln, Norton.

one was a day school for children with difficulties (I'm old and can't remember correct modern term lol) and one was a residential school.

Both had the headmaster of Mr Fortesque. He Live in a house build in the grounds.

The site has now new houses on it.

I remember another school on Matthews Ln , think it was Gleadless Valley, again site has houses built there. Kestrel football team played near or on site of this school

I attended St Mathias in the mid-50s I lived down the road at Angus Sq, the only thing I remember about the school was getting a right smack across the face from a teacher after going to her desk to ask a question, the smack which almost made me black out left my face was like a tomato on one side, so my mother went and had words with the teacher, it never happened again, I must have been about 5/6 years old, ah well life was somewhat more strict in those days.
