Guest galena
Thanks RichardB The information may not be too early as all I have been told is that my father's father worked for Kayser Ellison. He is not recorded in the 1901 census as I have discovered that he was in the Imperial Yeomanry in the Boer War but since he is given as a steel smelter on his Attestation Papers he may well have worked there at the time he took on the short service enlistment. I have found out a bit more about the firm from the following website: http://www.rotherhamweb.co.uk/genealogy/saunderson.htm This may be of use to someone else as well.
