vox
I'm trying to find Bala Street (It's where my great grandfather lived) on the alphabetical maps. Its Portobello - Broad Lane. St Thomas Street. Just can't find the section that it's in. It should be around Map no. 274, or No.3 or No.2 area I've scoured everything around there but no luck. Any help appreciated. I've found it on another map -- Below -- but the others seem a bit more detailed, showing individual properties. I managed to find a photo on picture Sheffield. Hi Vox It looks like Bala St is on sheet SK3487SE that is the one below our map 274, unfortunately we do not have that sheet at present. vox
Many thanks. Just what I needed to get a better Idea of the place. We're just starting to reveal some hitherto unknown stuff about my Great grandfather. We've found him living at 6, Bala Street with his family at about the time this map was done, and also owning a shop in nearby Broomhall Street. Amazingly I've found a photo of the very shop (Corner of Aberdeen Street) on Picture Sheffield, which was taken just as it was being demolished. Thanks again Steve.
