The only proper principle on which any Bank can conduct the procedings is a very simple one, and common to every trade. It is to do as much safe and profitable business as its resources will allow, and no more. All that is has immediately to look to when any transaction is offered to it, are the considerations whether the transaction will be safe and profitable, and whether the funds of the establishment are adequate to it.
