mickjj
Here are a few old adverts for shops and companies around the Sheffield area. Some of these buisnesses are still in operation today. http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335949.jpg,http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335929.jpg,http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335916.jpg http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335901.jpg,http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335889.jpg,http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335882.jpg http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335871.jpg,http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335860.jpg,http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335851.jpg http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335843.jpg,http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335835.jpg,http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335824.jpg http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335801.jpg,http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2007/post-14-1185335960.jpg,http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_02_2007/post-1-1171227282.jpg

Guest Albert Fowler
Cool. Thank-you for your hard work. I believe that the one for John Fowler, cooking stoves... is related to me! Do you have a date for that one?
RichardB
Don't put any money on this, it's just a guess - 1860's-1870's - best guess 1862 Pawson & Brailsford. Cool. Thank-you for your hard work. I believe that the one for John Fowler, cooking stoves... is related to me! Do you have a date for that one?
Unitedite Returns
Just bringing this back to the top so that newer members may puruse or even add some new ones. An absolutely fantastic collection to which I am more than pleased to add a few paltry items of my own.

DaveH
My Great great grandad. Off topic BUT Would your Great grandad James Burnand also be an ancestor of William (Bill) Burnand (1920 - 1997) or Margaret (Maggs) Oadley, nee Burnand (1912 - 1995)? Both of these are relatives of mine, aunt and uncle by marriage, a case of brother and sister from one family marrying sister and brother from another. As they are only losely related, even though I knew them well, I have never studied their family history, but I'm sure my mum would like to know. DaveH
Not in my tree, sorry. OK thanks, It was worth a try as Burnand can't be the most common surname around and we are limiting it to those from Sheffield.
jmdee
OK thanks, It was worth a try as Burnand can't be the most common surname around and we are limiting it to those from Sheffield. There are a few Burnand families around, mainly located in Sheffield, and it's possible they are all from the same origin. I can trace mine back to 1640.
