Guest tsavo
This site has architectural salvage items on offer. Scroll down to the last item. Can anyone identify which steel firm, this wonderful piece of art deco styling came from? http://www.salvo.co.uk/gloucestershire/arc...sale.html#13220
dr stanley
If I'm not mistaken this paneling featured in a tv programme a few years ago, possibly on Channel 4. The firm was at the bottom of Woodseats Road by the railway bridge. The complete room was dismantled and removed.
Guest tsavo
Jacobs (drill chucks) was the only firm I can remember around there.

I worked at Walker Engineering down that way and I'm pretty sure they used to be a small foundry and maybe a woodturning shop

Isn't it amazing how you can look for something for months or in this case years, using every search option you can think of, then stumble across it while looking for something totally different ...... such is the case here. Back in June 2008 tsavo started a thread regarding some art deco paneling for sale in a salvage yard that had originated from a Sheffield steelworks (his original link no longer works) ........ below is the tv programme that I refered to ......... the Sheffield interest starts just over 4 minutes in. http://video.uk.msn.com/watch/video/episode-3/1gg6hmuf4 A couple of stills from the programme. A modern view courtesy of "Streetview" (Woodseats Road) showing the remaining bit of white boundary wall.
