Messrs. John Round & Son of Tudor Works, carry on a large silver-plating and German silver trade, principally in the spoon and fork department's, more than 200 persons being employed in these branches. Some idea of the extent of the business may be gathered from the fact that in these departments there are nearly 4,000 different kind of goods, varying either in quality or pattern.

Besides their Sheffield premises, Messrs John Round & Son have a large establishment at Montreal in Canada, where they also carry on business as general merchants.

At the end of 1932 an agreement was made where Joseph Rodgers (of Pond Street) bought some of the assets of Rounds, and the Round products were to be made at the Pond Street Works. William Butterell continued to act as General Manager and Secretary, and there were to be minimal redundancies.

I thought Tudor Works looked empty in the 1935 photographs and with Estates Surveyors taking the photographs couldn't remember if the building was refurbished or demolished.

Gotta love how casual they are about vats of cyanide in the basement.

The firm I worked for did their own silver plating so vats of cyanide were part of the process, if by any bad luck you swallowed any Cyanide the antidote looked just like thick green paint, but it was never needed thankfully.

Such workmanship rarely seen today today, I've nothing but admiration for the Victorian and later workers.
