eldomsmith
Does anyone know if the J. E. James cycle business (family business established over 50 years) is in anyway related to the hardware shop that used to be opposite the Elm Tree? The owner there was Jack James, but I recall the shop sign said J. E. James. I have a memory he drove a ford popular and lived on Fretson Road. Upstairs was a magnet to young lads in the 60s, fishing tackle, air guns, maggots and hardware. Don't remember much about downstairs.

fentonvillain
In his 20s, Ted James was a bobby on the beat at West Bar. He left to start his first shop in Bramall Lane, as I recall. Didn't he do well! He is still around, I gather. Salute you Ted!
