Stunmon
Who remembers the Bernard Taylor Band who played for dances in the ballroom? I think one band member was called David Clarke. He may have been the drummer? Any memories welcome!!!!
lysander
Happy days. A workmate called Desmond Taylor ( no relation I believe) played in the band ,certainly in the 1960.s
johnm
Wonderful times at the City Hall ballroom early 1969's ! It was the best ballroom floor in Sheffield with wonderful springing. When we were 18 years old we graduated to The Locarno which was a great venue too.
lysander
We used the Locarno, City Hall and, of course, The Cutlers Hall. There were a couple of other dance venues but I have to confess they weren't on my "beat".
Lyn 1
How daring were we when we went to a dance at the City Hall at midnight- I think it was Easter and no dancing was allowed being Easter Sunday so they did what they termed an all nighter, midnight - 4am - @ 1962 I think it was. Back in the days of last pints at 10.30 in pubs? Needless to say by 2am we'd had enough. We were not used to such late nights.

Very fond memories of the Cutlers in the 60's... only soft drinks, the "bouncers" were Cutlers Hall employees in full uniform, who kept order and would escort anybody inebriated or misbehaving from the premises. Often had live groups as well the DJ and the girls on the stage dancing.
Lysanderix
We used to get a “ pass out”…an ink stamp on a wrist…to nip out and have a pint in one of the nearby pubs …before closing time. As I recall, the stage revolved so we had more traditional ballroom music for a while and then …Rock n Roll…..or is my memory playing tricks? Sorry Lysanderix don't remember a revolving stage at the Cutlers, don't remember traditional ballroom music either. Perhaps the ballroom music was elsewhere or before I started going, which was after the 45 club at St. Hildas, Windmill Lane and The Saints Club at St. Christopher's, Bellhouse Road finished so must have about 1966/67. We were usually downstairs along a corridor and in a room with pillars and on odd occasion upstairs in a grander "ballroom" Only went to City Hall a couple of times, remember a floor with glass squares that changed colours. Lysanderix
Hi ponytail…..I was referring to the ballroom in the basement of the City Hall. Nice to have my memory jogged about St Christopher’s and the trendy vicar who established the Saints Club. I was a regular at the City Hall, Locarno(Sunday Club) and the Cutlers Hall until the early1960s ….when I volunteered for a “ball and chain”😚

Sorry your dancing days were curtailed. 😂🤣
