Angela Weatherill
I have recently found an ancestor on the 1881 census at 45 Snig Hill, listed as Inn keeper. (Samuel Barker). Does anyone know what this pub might be? He was, in all previous censuses a boot maker. His father (also Samuel Barker, Shoe Maker), was compensated after the Sheffield Flood, so perhaps changed his occupation following that. Thanks

Angela Weatherill
Thanks for all the replies. Trust my ancestors to be up to no good! Was this also a boot/shoe manufacturing area too?

There were over 200 boot and shoemakers in Sheffield in the late 1800s so no area could be classed as a "Boot Making" area as they were all over the town and the villages.
