Lyn 1
Browsing the 1891 census for the Page Hall area I came across mention of the Old Manor House at Owler Lane. Does anyone know anything about this? It appears to be after 295 Owler Lane where it adjoined Owlet Lane. Lyn

tozzin
Owlet Lane is correct, but it seems to have been turned into a road to Wensley St, according to Peter Harvey's book on Street Names, Owler is an old name for the Alder and with Owlet Lane being just a short Lane, it was called after its bigger brother Owler. dunsbyowl1867
I may be wrong but seem to recall reading something about this before - Gramps asked me to take this photos for him some years ago. "And there used to be two posts at the bottom of Wensley street, opposite the chapel, which were from the entrance to Manor farm."

lysander
I vaguely remember the farm which I seem to remember we passed whenever we caught the tram to Town via Attercliffe, from Lane Top.
