Guest busy lizzy
Has anyone ever been inside either the church in the area or the large egyption looking building? I would love to know the history of the buildings and any photos please
ukelele lady
They do guided tours around the Cemetery which are usually advertised in the Sheffield Star. I would love to go on one of these but each time the date has been inconvenient. Like you I'm interested in this old cemetery and this building, I'll get there one day. Bayleaf
The Friends have a website, worth a look. The church is just a shell, full of grafitti and pigeon poo.
History dude
If you do go there make certain you take a stick to beat down the thistle and brambles, especially if you are looking for a gravestone. In the thickest parts you will need some good strong clothes and gardening gloves the brambles are that bad. Don't go in shorts!
Lemmy117
Went on one of those tours last year. The egyptian building is classed as unsafe so it was not possible to look inside, I believe they are trying to get a grant to repair it. I last went in the church in the early 70's, it was in a state them so heaven knows what it is like now.
