VicRichardson
My Gran used to be a cleaner at Victoria Hall back in the 50's and during school holidays I would go in to see her, I was fascinated by the huge organ in the main hall with the pipes going all round the place, never did here it played but must have been wonderful. lysander
Back in the 1950's ( and maybe earlier) Firth Park Grammar School held their annual Speech Day in the Hall...complete with school orchestra, choir and the "Organ". As I recall, the instrument made an incredible sound and really made the school come to attention before proceedings began. Whilst I was there we also held a couple of "Musical Plays" in the Hall...with an audience of paying guests.
