Just a brief note to let you know that there is an excellent and extensive, multi-page article in the latest edition, [issue 75], of the Archive Magazine [The Quarterly Journal for British Industrial and Transport History], published by Black Dwarf Lightmoor.

A superbly researched and highly informative article, full of fantastic period photgraphs and several plans of the company's facilities.

Well worth the purchase at £6.75 per copy.

Looking for pointers in the right direction.

I am currently doing some research on Newton, Chambers, and Company Limited, of Thorncliffe, Chapeltown, and a number of other places, and in particular, the history and operation of their railway network. For example, what locomotives they operated, when did they get them and from whom, what became of them, etc, etc.

There is all manner of assorted bits and pieces in various books and on the internet, but nothing extensive. Even the Industrial Railway Society, the usual go-to source on such matters, seems to have very little.

Has anyone come across any definitive history in any magazines or periodicals, during your own researches? If so, could you kindly let me know what?
