Hi!

I have lived in the neighbourhood for over two years now so I've at last - firmly got my feet firmly into my home and wish to know more about the history of the place, especially the road I live on.

Am currently living on Walkley Road (top of the hill) leading towards Rivelin so if anyone can help me out with where I begin my search, I would be most appreciative.

Just as a start, if you are at the top, near the junction with Bole Hill Road, there is

Ruskin House round the corner:

The site of Walkley Hall just up the hill opposite Camm St:

The tannery - now covered by Orchard Road.

I have seen photos of the tannery buildings, re-used as cottages, but I don't know where I found them (not at PictureSheffield, now at least) The tannery was owned by the Rawsons who owned Walkley Hall.
