Sheffield History
Hyde Park Flats stood tall dominating the Sheffield landscape for years. Todays question is how many floors and landings were there, and how many can you name?

DaveH
Hyde Park Flats stood tall dominating the Sheffield landscape for years. Todays question is how many floors and landings were there, and how many can you name? I am sure that our member plaintalker has already answered this question, naming all the floors and landings on Hyde Park Flats, Park Hill Flats, Langsett Road Flats, Broomhall Street Flats and all the tower blocks on the Norfolk Park Estate. I can't remember where she posted this as it was nearly 3 years ago and I can't find it. Also she doesn't post on the site as frequently as she used to, bit I am sure she would have no trouble at all giving a definative answer to this question. SteveHB
From a 1988 street atlas, could have missed some but it is a start. Belvis Row Bungay Row Chancel Row Chequers Row Dacre Row Derwent Row High Pavement Row Link Row Lord Row Roland Row Ropery Row Rubens Row Snow Hill Row Stepney Row Bernard Gardens ? Cricket Inn Gardens ? St. Johms Gardens ?
Guest OOF
First one should read Bevis Row.

SteveHB
First one should read Bevis Row. So it looks like the 1988 A-Z has the name spelt wrong then ?

Guest plain talker
So it looks like the 1988 A-Z has the name spelt wrong then ? It looks like Bevis Row on Hyde Park was named after Bevis Street .. picturesheffield u00219 Kelly's 1925 Yes it was definitely Bevis row, named for Bevis street. I suspect that the A-Z has a deliberate mis-spelling, for copyright reasons.
