"There is some writing in there from the owner" ebay.co.uk Should be Mellowes ... probably In 1941, F. Mellowes & Co. Ltd, of Corporation Street, Sheffield, purchased the majority shareholding for 4/- (20p) per share (about £23,400). H.A. Mellowes was appointed Chairman. The Sheffield company ran the Oldham subsidiary jointly with its own manufacturing systems, overseen by a Group Production Committee on which both Cowap and Fielding served. I have this mechanism for opening the roof windows of a glass house, there is also a long rod to which are bolted pivoted arms that actually shove the windows open.
