  5. Monday 25th sept 1916, Zeppelin raid on Sheffield. Zeppelin's L-21 and L-22, were sent to attack northern industrial towns in England. Kapitanleutnant Dietrich was to attack Sheffield. The Zeppelin headed towards Redmires then turned towards Attercliffe. The first bombs landed in Burngreave cemy, they also fell on Danville Street, Petre Street, Gimesthorpe Road, Writtle Street, Cossey Road, Corby Street and Woodbourne Hill. Bombs also landed near Manor Lane and Tinsley Park Colliery. 29 Dead, commemorated on the Zeppelin memorial on Effingham Road.

  8. Yes Skeets, it's off Whittam Road, just above Weston Park Hospital. Now how did it end up with a name like that? Maybe the same way that Northfield Rd in Crookes used to be known as Dark Lane.....because that's what it was called locally.
