In November 1826 he was performing in "Guy Mannering" at the Theatre when the pistol exploded in his hand "He will lose fingers and the whole inside of his hand was blown away". By 16th December a notice of bankruptcy was issued against him. If you gain Campo-lane, Neville's ale, bright and pale, You will find to your mind.
