Edmund
According to an interview with Tony Richards ( here: Interview Tony Richards ) it closed in July 1955, and at that point "had Twice Nightly Variety; so there were two performances each evening; about six o’clock and 8:30, so the show would be about two hours." "not that I particularly went for the nudity, I just - it didn’t mean very much - well I knew that it was a bit daring – but of course that was only part of the bill; and the rest of it was, you know, comedians and singers and acrobats, that’s what variety was. I even remember one act was a woman who used to do paper tearing and made things out of all sorts."
tozzin
I can remember Beryl Reid giving an interview about her life and she did remark about the Palace that her dressing room was something to be desired as the Rats would make it a habit of eating her knickers. Old rider
It was still there when I was an apprentice at Sanderson Bros & Newbould in 1959. I am not sure but I think it had become a bingo hall then.
