A Whale on The Moor

I heard a story about this on Home Truths with the fantastic John Peel, years ago.

If I remember it correctly the whale was moved around the country for some time until it got to the west Yorkshire area (Hemsworth?).

After it arrived it was decided it was in such a poor state it should stop traveling and was incinerated but owing to the amount of formaldehyde painted on to it, the rumor went that it exploded!

Is any of that true? or did I dream this??

I should have looked at that site in a bit more depth before I made my post.

By the look of things it may have been the owner of that site I heard on HT

It's strange,, but for many years I'd forgotten this incident; if you'd asked me "Ever been inside a whale" I'd have said yes, but it's not the kind of thing that gets asked often is it ?

Ever seen Tukankhamun's Death-mask ? a similar question, and yes !!!

I remember going to see this, smelt awful, I heard that it exploded too.

Indeed it did, when they tried to incinerate it; all that preservative over the years .... lol
