Hi -

I have come into possession of a straight razor struck on the tang with the wording 'Joseph Rodgers, Clun Street, Sheffield' and on the blade 'hand forged, Sheffield made'. I'm a straight razor specialist and am quite familiar with the No. 6 Norfolk Street address but I've never seen one with Clun Street on the tang. Can anyone shed a bit of light on this? Thanks for helping the newbie! lol

Welcome to the forum, we have a wide knowledge base here I am sure there will be somebody who can help. In the mean time here is an extract from our extensive Ordnance Survey Map section, this shows Clun St. To me this looks residential with back to back houses, but I suppose it depends on the date of your razor.

Many thanks! That map is interesting - I noticed at top right on Clun Street (via what looks an alley or track) a 'canteen' - maybe a works? The razor looks to date from around 1870 - 1890 - I do wish they'd put a number on like they did at 6 Norfolk Street!

Thanks to anyone who can give any more info!
