Does anyone have info on G H Lawrence, a razor blade manufacturer and director of Sheffield United who was killed in the blitz in 1940?

The Roll of Honour (printed in the Star's book Sheffield Blitz says:

LAWRENCE George Herbert, age 52.

Husband of Elsie Lawrence, of Belmont,

Hathersage, Derbyshire.

December 13, 1940, at Laurel Works,

Nursery Street.

This is a picture of the Laurel Works.

Picture Sheffield also has the name 'Lawrence Geo H Ltd' as a keyword for a picture

of the Green Lane Works so he may also have worked there at some point.

This is likely to be the entry for George and Elsie in the marriage index:

GRO Marriages DEC Qtr 1916

BOLTON Elsie (spouse: Lawrence) Sheffield 9c 1193

LAWRENCE George H (spouse: Bolton) Sheffield 9c 1193

There is an article on George Lawrence on the following website

http://www.chrishobbs.com/sheffield/georgelawrence.htm

It looks as though George is buried in the Churchyard at Hathersage (Derbyshire) alongside his wife Elsie. If my memory is correct it is just around the corner from the grave of Little John. in the newer section

Many thanks. I am following up the web site given.

Attached are details of a talk that is taking place on Friday 8th May 2009 in Hathersage about the life of George Lawrence. It should be well worth going to!
