Link to a grown-ups work : www.towndrow.co.uk/Archive/Grand%20United%20Order%20of%20Oddfellows.doc A history of the Sheffield Oddfellows can be found on www.oddfellows.org.uk James Montgomery (of Mongomery Hall and 'Angels from the Realms of Glory) was twice imprisoned in York Castle for sedition as a result of his membership. The Oddfellows originally met in The Bull Inn. The saying 'A load of Bull' meaning to dismiss any views with which one does not agree is said to have been coined by opponents of the Oddfellows debates at the Bull Inn in the 18th century.
