RichardB
Filch A grey horse, foaled in 1761. Also known as Otterley, obviously ... ?? At Sheffield in August 1768, he won £50 give-and-take (weights not mentioned) beating, at four heats, Mr Cornforth's Dido, aged (stakes 15gs.); Mr Vane's Clever, 6 years old; Mr Hudson's Dart, aged; and Mr Skiffington's Modest Virgin, who was distanced the first heat :- Dido won the first heat from Clever, Dart the second from Dido, and Otterley the third very easy from Dido :- Dart was distanced in running for the third heat, Dido was then drawn, and Otterley walked over for the fourth. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I find this almost incomprehensible ...
