I am a new member to the forum and I am looking for any information on Tinsley MPD with a view to modeling it. I am currently collecting a file of information ie old Photos, drawings track plans etc. If any body has any information or can direct me to a place which might hold detailed drawings I would be very greatful.

I don't recall Tinsley shed being being covered as such before, there is a topic in the transport section which covers the unofficial names applied to loco's in the mid 1980's

There seems to be some coverage on fotopic.net, try googling Tinsley TMD

here is one example

Also this book may be of some use, if you can find a copy

There was an article in Steam Days a couple of years back, this may have only covered the old steam sheds, not sure

I have checked our OS maps, we don't have the one that covers this part of Tinsley Yard

Hi all Responders to my request

Thanks for the response to my request. I have now collected a couple of hundred photos of locos surrounding the shed and can approximate sizes. Approaching Rotherham and Sheffield Library and NRM are part of the investigation plan. Photos from inside the shed are a particular requirement as these seem to be on the rare side, compared with the outside photos, which consist mainly of trains with the shed as a backdrop. Once again thank you for taking the time to respond.

Kind regards Mike

The reason why is that getting in tinsley was very hard some depots you were ok especaily if you went with some one that worked thare but tinsley was like the kremlin. Even when there was a depot open day the shed was usualy sealed

Try looking for Tinsley open days on you tube, there are quite a few viseos showing the inside of the sheds. I too have tried to find track plans with no sucess, good luck!
