Here with the front page of the file i have on Hugh.

second page -

The memorial window is in St Cuthberts at Firvale, where Hugh was a chorister before the war. He's also pictured seated on the right, middle row, of one of St Cuthberts sports teams. I was told rugby but it does look like a football to me.

The window was paid for by his parents, the inscription at the bottom reads -

'To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Hugh Kelsey, for nine years Choir Boy in this church. Killed in action in France, May 3rd 1917, aged 19 years. This window is erected by his parents'

He was born and enlisted at Sheffield.

MIC - Victory and British War medals.

Dean.

That's absiolutely fantastic!!!!! Thank you very much for this info. Hugh's father (also Hugh) was the postmaster at Fir Vale post office. The father was brother to my father's mother (Ida Hill Kelsey) The Kelsey family originated at Epworth & the Theaker family were at Belton just a short distance away. I think Hugh snr retired back to Epworth. There was a sister to Hugh but not sure what happened to her.

Is there any way you can get a better copy to me that I can print off for my archive?

Regards

Philip.
