Guest SuzyC
I have several of my granny´s sheets, pillow cases, tablecloths, tray cloths even (remember them, the kids would look at you gone out if you brought out a tray with a cloth on it now), all dating from the early 1900´s when she got married and took great pleasure in embroidering and "tatting"/crocheting them for her bottom drawer. They are in great condition and have been laundered, bleached, starched etc. (always by Snow White laundry of Sheffield). Please tell me why when buying new "Egyptian cotton sheets etc" we are told not to bleach them, wash at 40 degrees, but can tumble dry . Could it be originally they were made in the Lancashire mills out of proper stuff??? Just a talking point you understand? :)
