sando
Whatever happened to the quintessential sound of church bells chiming on a Sunday morning or for weddings on a Saturday afternoon, it seems years since I heard the bells of Ranmoor or Fulwood church. I am not a religious person but after returning from a holiday in Greece where bells are sounded regularly I realised that something had disappeared from the sound of Sunday
Bayleaf
Now you mention it the bells at St John's Ranmoor do seem to be missing. There used to be a regular practice on Tuesday evening I think, then on Sunday and frequently on Saturdays for weddings. Fulwood acquired a carillon some years ago, and I do still hear it occasionally, but I'm sure not as often as I used to. I must admit sitting out on a warm evening with the sound of the bells drifting across the valley was special!
Bayleaf
Hi Sando I was sitting out in the garden last Friday and Fulwood carillon was practising, and I'm pretty sure St John's were too!
