MadAnnie, brought up this subject in another topic, about the unofficial names applied to locos by Tinsley Depot

This is the photo in question

30/08/86 Chesterfield, no name

It was later named

45 141 - Zephyr

When was the name applied, given that this loco was withdrawn I think in 1988 at Tinsley.

45 141 was withdrawn in August 1988. I have seen two dates given for this, either 2nd or 4th. 45 141 was also the last Class 45 to operate a Class 1 train in ordinary service on 31st July (1535 Leeds to Cardiff)

Haven't found a date for the unofficial naming yet, though.

Do you know any details

Here are the 08's i have details of

08308 Langwith, 08749 Great Central, 08880 Mebrough (wrong spelling), 08871 Barrow Hill, 08492 Barnsley, 08857 Darnall, 08878 Grimesthorpe, 08678 Stavely, 08436 Beighton, 08509 Wath ETD, there are loads of 47 names if you go to www.class47.co.uk they are all in the names section. It is easy to spot Tinsleys as they were either species of bird or racehorses with a couple of exceptions. Hope this helps.
