I have remembered one thats not in that collection! can you guess which one? :)

I remember a bus painted up like a Sunblest Loaf (or was it Fletchers?) Does that count?

It only lasted a short time. They said it was distracting to other drivers I think.

Was it in the 70's sometime?

Sheaf Motors? one of the first all-overs.

Does the Jubilee livery count?

A Heineken bus on Flat Street can be seen on John Law's excellent fotopic site.

Another bus from this batch (466) carried allover advertising for Gordon Lamb, and Leyland Atlantean 1721 advertised TC Harrison.

....yes , it was 1973 , they were the Fletchers loaf bus ,the Sheaf Motors bus, and the Sheffield Star bus . All hand painted - none of this vinyl wrap of today ! :o

...correct Busman ! - it was a Commer van with a facelift ! - which were taken under the Dodge marque (incorporating Leyland / Commer ) late 70's .

The face lift Dodge model had revised lights , and the plastic front grille /surround similar to the other Leyland / Morris commercial models around at the time - remember the Morris Marina van , renamed the Ital , and Sherpa renamed LDV Pilot ? after putting black plastic front grilles on !

As well as Royal Mail , Telecom had a load of yellow ones with blue Telecom wording ,in the early 80's.

The Commer van now even has its own fan club !........

Guest bus man

This model of van was used by a lot of the goverment departments (as they were then) gas, royal mail, bitish rail etc. The purchase was done to keep the van plant open - so i understand.

There was a problem with cornering as they were not known for been stable . I will NOT be joining the commer club.

...slightly off topic , but former SYPTE National 91 - JWG 191P , recieved the same "Greenway" treatment !....

7008-07 - Ex SYPTE East Lancs Greenway rebodied Leyland National

good find Transit!

iirc the Omnibus Greenway IIL2501 in my picture was actually a re-bodied Atlantean wasnt it?

It was indeed a Leyland Atlantean: Northern Counties bodied LJA645P, originally Greater Manchester Transport 7645. A grainy shot of said bus in Andrews Sheffield Omnibus livery here.

As the original bus was an Atlantean, not a National, can it be called a Greenway? It looks more like the EL2000 bodywork.

... yes only the Nationals were rebodied with the "Greenway" styling , in both long and short variations - 10.3 or 11.3 Metres.

It seemed cost effective at the time , and a Mk 1 and later Mk 2 (with facelift front) were available .

That is until the Dennis Dart came along , and companies bought that instead !
