Guest David Corn
HI all, I am wondering how to interpret an English birth certicficate from 1842. The certificate has the father's occupation (my gg grandfather) as "A Baker". Does this mean he simply was a baker or could it mean he was an apprentice baker. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Many thanks. David
Guest DoreenC
Hi David, Apprentices I've come across have always been 'ap' or 'app', so I would say he was a qualified 'Baker'. Regards, Doreen
vox
If he was "The Father", I think it's unlikely that he would support a family on apprentice wages.
