Got one of these for Step-Kidlette today.

Global announcement tonight on ITV News at 10.

Sounding good ... he he

Work thinking of giving these to all employees ... which means I might be seeing a lot of them ... hope they do it by location, 39,000 staff across Europe ... 67 in the UK.

Well Richard, the "announcement" on BBC Radio 2 at teatime tonight was that the iphone4 is a load of crap.

There seems to be a problem with it which affects left handed users, an over sensitive touch screen and consequent loss of signal whaen making phone calls.

Apple say it is a software problem for which they will issue a patch, but it has already been announced that it is in fact a hardware problem for which Apple will have to recall and repair, - an expensive fault for them then.

The interviewer who spoke to the Apple rep. summed it up by saying, "It's a great gadget that really works well with lots of apps and gimicks, but being a phone the thing that really lets it down is what most people would expect a phone to do best, - make phone calls!"

The top guy at Apple (Steve Jobs?) said the problem could be fixed by wrapping duct tape around it. Won't do much for it's "fashion accessory" image

Yes, wrap some duct tape around your iphone4 as a temporary fix.

The latest is that if your iphone4 has one of those fancy clip on cases which protect it the problem goes away.

So Apple are now mulling over having to give everyone who has bought an iphone4 (about 2 million so far and (strangely) still rising!), free of charge, a piece of plastic worth 36p but which they retail at £25.

Now lets see, 2000000 x 36p, Hmmm... £720,000.

Not exactly going to bankrupt Apple's multi billion dollar empire is it?

That's probably LESS than the annual salary of their employee who made the cock up in the first place.

So if they sack him and give everyone a free plastic cover after a year they are still in profit on it.

Even if, by some remote possibility of a world plastic shortage or global hyperinflation the cover WAS worth £25, it would still only be costing Apple £50million, a hell of a lot of money to me and you but still only a minute fraction of Apple's wealth.

Having said that, how overpriced is the iphone anyway?
