Rutland Spooner was my great grandfather. He was originally from Plymouth, where the family owned a large department store, and his brother and nephews were connected with Plymouth Argyle as administrators  from the 1880s to the 1950s. At that time as a Wesleyan minister Rutland (as far as I know no-one knows how he got that name) was required to move to a new "station" or "circuit" every three years, and his career included St Austell in Cornwall, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Kettering, Aldershot, WIndsor and Southampton (not a complete list - I'd have to look that up). His ministry in Sheffield began in 1906, by which time he was probably fed up with the regular upheaval. When his first 3-year stint in Sheffield at the Park St circuit, was up, he transferred to another circuit (Carver Street) in Sheffield, and when that 3-year appointment was over, he moved back to Park St. And when that third consecutive posting in Sheffield came to an end, he retired, and continued to live in Sheffield,  preaching when required (which was fairly frequently according to reports in the Sheffield newspapers). He died in (I think) 1935. He was very musical - his first wife from Cornwall had been his organist, and he often gave talks on Handel, including performances on the piano. None of the family stayed in Sheffield. My grandfather started a business in Gainsborough, where I was born and brought up, two others became Methodist ministers (one went to India) and another one (a civil engineer) went to Australia.

The Rev Spooner left Sheffield in 1932, moving to 41 Caledon Road, Parkstone (Poole) in Dorset.  He died aged 89 on 6th April 1936.

My gt grandad John Morris & his brother James were both Wesleyan local preachers from the age of 18 in 1863. They were founder members of Ebenezer Wesleyan Reform Church at Bramall lane in1876. James Morris was ordained into the Wesleyan Reform Union ministry in 1891 when he was 46 years old. He & his family had moved house & now worshipped at Sharrow Vale WR church. He was known as a charasmatic preacher & was  immediately made the Union's Connectional Evangelist  in which role he went round the country holding rallies at WR churches. On retirement age 65  in 1910 he became Minister at the WR church at St Just in Penwith in Cornwall where he stayed for 10 years until he was too ill to carry on & he came back to Sheffield to live with his son.

James and John are my 2nd grand-uncles (my connection is via Henry, their father and Alfred Edgar, their brother).  I understand that Anthony, James's son was a Pitman's Shorthand instructor - attached is the 1911 White's Trade Directory for Sheffield, whcih you may find of interest.
