The Reading Room in Grenoside has been awarded £21,000 by the

Heritage Lottery Fund.

It was built in 1807 and is the only listed building in Grenoside.

It was built by local subscription for the benefit of educating the local

children.

Ecclesfield Parish Council were the custodians of the building

from thre late 1890s until 2007.

I wonder whether they have a large scanner with a Geordie accent in there ... ?

Are you thinking of the Grenoside Archives that belongs to the modern church,

There's a lady in there with a very strong accent.

Murdered gamekeeper George Thirkell's headstone at St Leonards at Wortley, not 'our' gamekeeper though.

I wouldn't have liked to have been a Gamekeeper round those parts !!
