Burrow's Pointer Guide Map Of Sheffield

I remember using it when I was young - am I right that it had a tape measure attached at the top corner & the identifaction of all places was given by putting the tape along a letter on the edge & finding the place by a certain length along the tape?.

A great idea I thought and maybe the technique should still used today.

Unfortunately I don't have one!

Yes john,

I have the same map,

never tried to work out how to use the tape thingy though.

Does it say what date it is? May be quite useful for old roads

Hi John,

on the the cover it is dated as 1969 - 1970

however there is a small revision map included (dated Nov 1968.) that refers to one of the City center pages;

'Since the the map was revised, Arundel Gate has been opened up to

provide a through way between High St and Matilda St'

Its a shame - thought it might have been 1950's
