We went up there in October 2007 for a short break in Northumberland. At Alnwick we had a choice between the castle and the gardens for the time we had available (and the money, - they are quite expensive) As my wife is a keen gardener we chose to look at Alnwick gardens, so the castle is on our list of places to visit in the future. Northumberland seems to have more than its fair share of castles, all of them interesting and well worth visiting so I don't know why they have singled out this one to use in films.
