Here is a long shot

Anyone remember the short films broadcast on BBC2 before it officially started broadcasting?

I remember one film about laying a pipeline, would love to see that or any of the other films again. The films seemed to be in The BTF (British Transport Film) stylee.

Remember them well. The colour test transmission favourite of mine was "Welcome to Devon" Just the novelty of seing it in colour (in Oate's shop window, bottom of Wadsley Lane) was enough.

Unfortunately, they have had problems on that site recently and have lost a load of stuff (which they are constantly re-uploading) - BUT it is the definative site for ANYTHING to do with TV channels in the past.

The story of BBC 2's launch is actually quite a funny one - they were set to launch in April 1964, but got as far as transmitting the first Ident before it all conked out:
