27 February 1846

Mr. Greaves,of the Surrey Arms Inn in Hollowmeadows, was shot by Joseph Hodkin. Hodkin and Joshua Eastwood went with intent to murder the family and rob the house. Hodkin shot and escaped from the house, but was taken in Sheffield the same night with the pistol. Eastwood was seized on the spot by the servant man with a pistol in his pocket.
