Anyone remember Gonks ? Surely someone must still have one kicking about somewhere ?

Lulu and the Luvvers - Gonks Go Beat

a truely awful film, maybe 1965, but I'm more than willing to wrong on that, I was only 3at thetime.

Tivvy was a Gonk.

He used to advertise the TV Times in the 1960's and his catch phrase was "In colour"

Not sure weather that refered to the TV Times which had colour pictures in unlike the Radio Times which was still in black & white at the time or if it refered to the new experimental UHF 625 line broadcasts which were in colour.

I can remember Gonks, Can anyone remember Tivvy?

Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, Graham Bond, Kenneth Conner, Frank Thornton, Terry Scott and Lulu - some kind of early Supergroup ?

Gonks Go Beat

Nothing to do with Sheffield as such, but, hoping for Sheffield Gonk memories.

More Gonk history

I can also remember from the 1960's an episode of Blue Peter in which Valerie Singleton showed you how to make your own Gonk (it may even have been Tivvy) with frequent references to "one she had made earlier"

It was made as always from some felt material, an old washing up bottle, some sticky back plastic, some strong glue, some double sided sticky tape, an old box, some wool, some string, a piece of card and a pair of Val's old nickers.

{Except that I added the bit about Val's old nickers, - it was a saying we used to have about the stuff they made on Blue Peter at the time lol }

Or is it being kept secret ^_^

Obviously from the quote, it wasn't me, - and I would have attached a note.

Was it a moderator, a topic fairy, or a gonk that moved it? lol
