Has any of our members had dealings with Pareto -Reg cure , Cheers Skeets

Hello skeets,

I do not like and never use registry tools/cleaners,

never found one that is straightforward to use

and I have found that they sometimes remove important operating files.

You can really mess your system up by using one.

That is my personal experience,

other members may have different opinions.

I agree with Steve

The registry is at the heart of your system, be very careful what you do.

As Steve says they can remove important files

In my experience if you think you have problems, back up your data and do a clean re-install of your operating system.

Also agree with Steve

In my expereience these registry cleaning programs seem to do very little most of the time.

They can however remove "null" or "empty" registry entries as these are usually redundant, but some programs rely on these entries being in the registry and stop working without them.

The best feature on these registry cleaner programs is the ability to back up and restore your registry to previous point in time because if you are going to mess about with the registry you need some way of correcting any mistakes so that no lasting harm is done.

However, you don't need a special program for this as in Windows XP the MicroSoft Restore does pretty much the same thing (sets a restore point to go back to before you interfere with anything).

Unlike Stuart I am not so sure of doing a full reinstall of my system as I have so much stuff on my computer it would take weeks to do and you never get back to where you start anyway.

Having said that, when computer problems crop up in my experience it is hardly ever the registry which is at fault, - unless you have been silly enough to try to alter it or clean it up in the first place.
