Just remembered some more, S@E on Carterknowle road, one on Sandygate road Crosspool, Derbyshire Lane (still open), Coal Aston and Dronfield (still open)

Looking at the lists above I think the stores listed under S&E at Birley and Beighton were actually B&C stores.

I think the Jaunty Lane Co-Op in your list in post #1 should be in the B&C section rather than the S&E

Otherwise it is highly unlikely my mother would have worked there as she was employed by B&C.

I also have some photos of some of these which I have posted / will post in the other thread on Co-Op's.

These can be linked to the matching entry in your first post as a photo link

I have just been round the one way system at Malin Bridge and the hardware shop next to the old mill building looks suspiciously like a co-op style building.

I don't know if it was a S&E or B&C but there was a new one built in the

early 70s between Addy Street and Upperthorpe opposite the library.

I believe it's a Medical Centre now.

I think it went out of business when the Safeway [nowTesco] opened

at the Infirmary.

Updated Dunsbyowl
It was a B&C, although it was actualy in S&E territory, and was promised to the Co-op when the S&E on Langset road was demolished as part of the langset estate, but the S&E had no money to invest in new builds

Anyone remember the one on Ulley Rd./Kilvington Ave. Woodthorpe, next to the High Noon?

Think it was a B&C but not certain.

The building is still there, incorporating the Tennants Association and Housing Offices. Still has that 'Co-op look' about it though.

Updated list - dunsbyowl
I started working for B&C Co-op straight from school in 1958 and retired from there 7 years ago . I started in footwear and remaind in that department until it was franchaised in the late 90s . The shoe warehouse was at Broughton Lane , the site is now occupied by Sheffield Area . We had nine shoe branches = Fife Street , Gower Street , Ecclesfield , Margetson Crescent , Fretson Road Middlewood Road , Staniforth Road , Attercliffe Road and Exchange Street [ this store was the central department store until Castle House opened ] we later took over Stocksbridge , Woodhouse ,and Killamarsh Co-op Societieswho also had footwear departments
